What to gather:
1 1/4 cup of panko crumbs (you could also use flour)
1tb cornstarch
3 Maui Onions
Sea Salt + Fresh Cracked Pepper
1 can of Maui Brewery Bikini Blonde Ale OR for a bolder, Hawaiian version: Maui Brewery CocoPorter
What to do:
Heat oil (coconut preferably) to 400 degrees.
Cut Maui Onions in slices.
Combine first 3 ingredients in bowl; salt to taste.
Whisk beer until smooth to make batter.
Coat Onions with batter.
Gently add coated onions to oil; DO NOT CROWD.
Cook until golden brown. Remove with slotted spoon and let cool on paper toweling.
Enjoy with Maui brew of choice.
Eat up!

This looks yummy. The corn starch is the real trick, I think! Maui Brewery Bikini Blonde Ale will have to find a comparable to use here in Florida.
Yum!

@PT – I highly recommend a light ale of the local ilk! Something special there in Florida…you can combine Hawaii and Florida and make “paradise onion rings”! Thanks for always stopping by PT!
